The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Dr. Hun Manet, praised the capacity of Sihanoukville Port after reviewing the port’s annual container loading data.
The premier said the port’s capacity could handle only 550,000 containers per year, while the actual loading data was 880,000 containers.
He said that this shows the growth and needs of Cambodia, while the port will be expanded.
Dr. Hun Manet added that after the construction of the expansion, the port capacity will be further expanded to accommodate almost all types of ships, up to 93 percent of all ships in traffic.
He said this at the ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Friday morning, December 22, 2023, in Sihanoukville.
